It may be intuitive or it may be intentional. But the 6 steps they follow are real:<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEARN-EMPOWER-ASSESS-DECIDE-EVALUATE-REVIEW<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second step in the leadership developmental process is EMPOWER. The word empower is overused in leadership conversations. It can be a catch-all term that means everything and nothing, at the same time.\u00a0 In a positive sense, EMPOWER describes what transpires when an apprentice acquires the skills, gains confidence, combined with proven character to establish a team that successfully carries-out a project from inception to completion.<\/p>\n<p>Leaders lead from three positions.\u00a0 Each position serves a particular purpose.\u00a0 The three models are progressive, meaning that the most empowering leaders aspire to lead from the Outside so that team members own the outcomes of their actions.<\/p>\n<h6><strong>Here are the three positions that leaders lead from with a description of each:<strong><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">Centre \u2013 The Autocrat<\/li>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">Fringe \u2013 The Team Leader\/Coach<\/li>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">Outside \u2013 The Enabler<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.resourcezone.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Developing-Leadership-Effectiveness.2a.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1674\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.resourcezone.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Developing-Leadership-Effectiveness.2a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"631\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.resourcezone.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Developing-Leadership-Effectiveness.2a.jpg 631w, https:\/\/blog.resourcezone.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Developing-Leadership-Effectiveness.2a-300x92.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 631px) 100vw, 631px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h6><strong>As a leader, one thing you must ask is \u2013 <em>What is my position?<\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: -0px;\">\nHere are three questions to ask leaders about the position they lead from:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">From what position are you currently leading?<\/li>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">Where do you need to move?<\/li>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">How can you make the shift?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Empowering\u00a0is an important step in the Leadership Development Process. But Empowering in itself is not enough. In fact, going to a workshop, listening to a podcast or even receiving a degree in leadership does not guarantee a person can lead. I\u2019ve found that many people have knowledge but lack the experience of actually leading a team. Applying the knowledge and learning from success as well as failure is critical in the development process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions for your reflection:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">Who are you empowering?<\/li>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">How are you helping them increase their capacity to lead?<\/li>\n<li style=\"color: black; font-size: 15px;\">What possibilities are there for them to take the next step forward?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>The next step in the journey to develop as a leader is \u2013 Assess\u00a0team members to help them clarify \u201cwhat\u2019s next\u201d.
