By using effective change agent skills, individuals will be able to lead themselves and others in implementing actions that enable vision to become reality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>So how do you become an effective change agent?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">When faced with this question the response is usually directed to the qualities\/values of a good change agent\u2026 or the process and competencies that are needed to produce an effective change agent. Both aspects are important, but let\u2019s look for a moment at how to develop a Change Management Workshop that concentrates on the process and competencies of a change agent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>The Process of Change Management<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">To develop this workshop you could use something like the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.resourcezone.com.au\/change-management-skill-builder-booklet-ministry-specific-resource-pdf\">Change Management Skill Builder Booklet<\/a>\u00a0to introduce leaders to a framework that provides consistency for both them and those they lead. It covers areas like:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Identifying key issues that relate to coping with and managing change<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Involving all the stakeholders affected by the change situation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Informing and keeping people who are affected by change up-to-date<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Initiating the actions that are usually needed to manage change<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Implementing a robust and ongoing communication plan<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Reviewing areas of resistance so that these can be effectively managed<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Change Management Competencies<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Change Management is composed of a number of different competencies, or puzzle pieces. If all these pieces are not in place the effectiveness of the leader as a change agent will be limited. To develop this aspect you could use something like the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.resourcezone.com.au\/change-management-effectiveness-proflie-ministry-specific-resource-pdf\">Change Management Effectiveness Profile<\/a>\u00a0to assess the strengths and weaknesses in the following competencies:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Proactive thinking<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Organisation for change<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Involving others<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Visioning the future<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Communicating clearly<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Breaking from the past<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Consolidating new learning<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Where to start\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong>Start with yourself<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The greatest myth is \u2018I have arrived\u2019. The landscape is always changing and leaders are always facing new problems and new possibilities, so never stop growing your skills. Why not engage a coach who will be able to guide you in developing both the process and competencies of a change agent.
